A Southern Christmas

I can't seem to say this enough, my family is absolutely centered around food. When all the big holidays roll around we can't help but make food the focal point. Whether this is a healthy focus or not is yet to be discovered. My waistline would utter a resounding no

Thus it was with delightful glee that we gathered around my sisters table for a pre-Christmas dinner of Southern bounty. Is this truly Southern food, I am not really certain. Is it incredibly delicious as it is weighed down by grease and saturated fats and sugar? Yes indeed. Mmmmm.

Now that we have the pictures of the delectable food out of the way, we can move onto the fun part!

I would like to share with you now the results of Lauren's attempted hip wiggle. It doesn't turn out so well. So, if your heart is weak or your eyes are sensitive, go no further. I do not intend to harm, but rather bring joy. Sadly, this joy is felt only by a few.
Please notice J.'s attempts to save Lauren from W. and D.
 Unfortunately she soon joined it.

Happy Holidays from mine, yours, and ours...

A Hipster themed Bridal Shower

No. Not mine. But that's funny.

M. is getting married in April. The exact date I cannot share with you on account of me not knowing. It is Easter weekend though. So now you can stalk her.
A few weeks ago I helped host a bridal shower for the dear girl up in chilly Massachusetts. My contribution to the entire party was to bring gift bags filled with delicious treats [i'm not going to bring gross treats. i don't even think those exist since the definition of treat is "something pleasurable"], provide some fruit for the feast, and have M.'s fiance R. answer some silly questions that M. had to answer before the opening of her lovely gifts.

M. received some lovely items which will be of great use in the future.

And the house where the party was held was filled with delightful little trinkets and decorations. Simple and beautiful.

May the future be bright and lovely for M. and R. as they start their new life together.

Remembering the Milestone

Well, the day had to come at some point for my mother to turn 50. My father reached that particular milestone in May. However, I was not at the joyous celebration as I was in Israel connecting with my Jewish roots. For my mother's special day we threw a party. And as all of my family celebrations go, we had more than enough food.
The beautiful, delectable birthday cake was made by my dear friend.
Pretty much everyone loved it and couldn't get enough. My brother and my boss were both raving about it, and they are not generally cake eaters. That is how amazing it was! Please be jealous. You just don't know what you were missing.

Our party was attended by around 30 various miscreants, those miscreants were essentially my own beloved family.

Anyone recognize this sweet move?
My mother was incredibly pleased with the number of people, the food, and the general merry making that occurred during this blessed event.

We had guests on the smaller side as well. Young and older[ish] came to wish my mother the best. She is truly the most wonderful woman in my life. We are grateful for her. The youngest guest is appreciative for my mother as well, as expressed in the picture below.

The happiest of birthdays to you, Mumsy! You are adored and loved by many.

An Art Gallery Does Not Make One Classy by Default

I speak the truth. One could be classy and in an art gallery. But by just being in an art gallery does not make one automatically classy. In fact, if your goal for being in the art gallery is to look more distinguished, it isn't going to happen.

I have proof.
Case in point.

I kind of love this picture down below. I am a huge fan of pictures that are not in fact posed. Real people. Real expressions. Yes please.

Although, J. is pretty cute even when she is hamming it up for the camera. Mmmm. Lovely.

Now for Something Different

Total lies. The only time I ever take pictures is when I am doing something remotely fun and/or interesting. Thus I have no snapshots of anything else in my life because it is either not fun or interesting. I need to work on this unfortunate problem.

Last week we had our office Christmas party. This consisted of me taking pictures of the most adorable baby while we exchanged gifts that was part of a secret santa [what was so secret about it i will never know]. Generally speaking I am not a huge fan of small children [or children in general really], and yes, I do realize that this makes me sound like the worst person ever. My patience levels just aren't at that stage of maturity to handle young things crying all the time. However, when they are little angels, I do okay with them. When they are cute and little angels, even better.

This picture below is just the most hilarious thing I have seen in a while. The cute pink baby looks mortified beyond belief at what is occuring around her. The smallish toddler is apparently being tickled by some unknown source. And the dad [of the toddler that it. the small pink baby is not his own] looks like he would rather not be in the picture. So many wonderful expressions in one small picture.

And some more pictures from our lovely little party for your viewing pleasure.
